"Dear Parish Clerk
I write to update you on changes in blue and black bin collection days, that are being made to ensure an efficient service that meets current and future demand.
You will know that we collect blue and black bins on a two-week alternate cycle. We have not reviewed the whole district’s bin rounds since 2010, and as we face increases in current and future demand, we have looked
at how we can reconfigure rounds to save waste miles, provide capacity and save money.
We are taking a stepped approach to raising awareness, (including the parish magazine text attached), so that residents have the information they need when they need it, but I am pleased to share the plan with
you below.
- From Monday 11 November we will be rolling out day changes. Half of households see change of day but if the day remains the same, time arrive at property will change and as now, ask households to have their bins out by 6.30am on collection day.
- From Monday 14 October we will be putting a yellow tag on black bins, alerting customers to look out for a letter being posted to them with what the change means for them, and with a calendar to help make the transition.
- This letter will start arriving from Monday 28 October, and there will be full supporting information on the council’s website at www.westsuffolk.gov.uk/bincollections
- Garden Waste Collection Service customers collections remains the same for this year.
We would greatly appreciate your help in displaying the poster, and by sharing the magazine and web content all attached.
There is further detail on how the transition will be managed, which I look forward to sharing with you closer to the time.
Yours sincerely
Cllr Peter Stevens
Cabinet member for Operations
West Suffolk Council"
