The
Annual Meeting of the Hawkedon Parish Council was held on 25th May,
at which the accounts for the year ending 31st March 2016 were
presented, and agreed. The Parish Clerk reported on activities within
the Parish for last year, and County Councillor Mary Evans reported
on County and Borough matters.
The
short meeting (attended by our Councillors and one member of the
public – lured by the glass of wine perhaps?) was followed by an
Ordinary Parish Council Meeting where the Clerk and Chairman updated
members on various village events and other matters. There was
considerable discussion about the Queen’s Head planning
application, which is still on-going.
The
generous offer by Mr John Ward to commemorate his Grandfather, John
Clarke (whose death at the Battle of the Somme is recorded on the War
Memorial) was also discussed again. Mr Ward plans to visit Hawkedon
on 2nd July when it is hoped both the Clerk and the Chairman will be
able to meet him.
Funding
from the Borough Council (grateful thanks to Cllr Peter Stevens)
towards the costs of the BBQ on the Green to mark the Queen’s 90th
Birthday was confirmed. (See separate report of the event held on
12th June)
The
next meeting of the Parish Council will be in the autumn; date to be
confirmed.
