'THERE'S NOWT LIKE A PROPER BREW'

'Nah then' today is the day when Paul and I finally head to North Yorkshire for a 'reet grand' adventure. We can't wait to get up to our cottage on the moors and see the landscape change from autumn to winter. I am hoping that the weather will be kind to us and snow will not cut the dale off before we have had a chance to meet all of our new neighbours.

Paul and I just wanted to say what a fab time we have had living in Hawkedon. We shall miss our friends and neighbours very much, having been welcomed to the village at a 'bacon butty and plant sale' back in 2016. Many of you have stopped to chat or wave to Megan and I in the mornings as we do our lap of the green and our time living in a caravan while we renovated Spring Cottage was made easier by offers of hot meals, baths and at least 3 cottages to stretch our legs in!

2020 has been a strange and difficult year for us all but we came together as a community and we will remember all the positive things that happened here in Hawkedon; a village litter pick and quiz night (2020 social events all on the same day!), a WhatsApp group with news on takeaway curry, very well organised veggie and fresh fish deliveries, bell ringing, (some socially distanced) wine drinking and clapping to honour NHS and key workers. We are proud to have been part of it.

If we are invited (fete, quiz night), we will be back to catch up with you all.

Once again thank you for being great friends and neighbours.

Sarah and Paul Williamson, Spring Cottage.
