The Missing Fish Van

If it were not for life's little disappointments, we would not appreciate the successes.  The little band of hopeful villagers who were busy observing social distancing in the Queen's Head car park shortly after dawn this morning, were ultimately saddened by the non-appearance of the fish truck.  So emotional was this, that some residents have been moved to poetry:

There once was a Haddock from Hull
Who thought life in the ocean was dull
He dreamt of Hawkedon’s hills
But was sick to the gills
When his visit on Friday was null !

The residents of Hawkedon were aghast
And forced into a fishless fast
Cos Billy the fish
Left a bare empty dish
Let’s hope it can be put in the past !!

The final one is unfinished.  Any ideas?

There once was a man call Billy the Fish
A visit to Hawkedon our only wish
A recipe from Fanny Craddock
Would help us prepare the haddock

??????????????????????????
