From a secret central Hawkedon location

The blue tit nest was more or less finished over a week ago.  Since then, our blue tit friend, along with a chap who appears to be her husband, has made fleeting visits to the nest but has spent little time there.  Having brought in a few more feathers and really fluffed up the nest, she spent last night in the nest for the first time in days.  All the indications were that this morning she would be sitting on an egg.  But she isn't.  This morning the nest is empty.

In the meantime, in another secret central Hawkedon location, a sparrow has been spending the night in another box.  No signs of nest building yet, but if there should be a nest it will be a mess.  Sparrows are not tidy.  Should you get a chance spend some time watching them in your garden - they have very complicated love lives.
