A most enjoyable and financially successful
concert was held in St Mary’s Church, Hawkedon on Saturday, 14
July. Entitled ‘Songs for Summer’, it was an entirely
appropriate name as the weather was glorious and enabled the generous
refreshments to be served outside in the churchyard afterwards.
The popular Abbot Consort of Voices presented a
delightful mixed programme of choral music from Tudor Times to the
present and their Organiser, Brian Robinson, also read and recited
some fascinating stories and verse.
Almost 50 people were there to appreciate and
relish the good music and company, and Church funds were boosted by
the £500 raised.
Grateful thanks are extended to all involved and
who supported the evening.
