LOCAL SNOW HEROES

Getting in and out of Hawkedon has been tricky for the last few days, but only possible due to the kindness of those who have gone out of their way to help.  There have been those spreading grit from the grit bins and providing assistance with 4WD vehicles.  A wedding this weekend will only have flowers because Jonathan did the last few miles of the delivery for a delivery driver who could not get through.

Some of us can work from home, but for others we need to get to work to help the wider community.  On Thursday night, the road between Hawkedon and Rede (our 'main' road) was blocked by snow drifts, and four vehicles were stranded.  Simon, Lester, and Tim worked for a couple of hours with big agricultural machinery and hand shovels on a dark and cold night to clear the road and free those that were stranded.  This work was done with cheerful willingness - had it not been done, the road would still be blocked.

Many thanks to all who have done what they can to help the community.  Happily, the snow and ice is now starting to melt.
